Phil Nimmons is a clarinetist and the founder of the University of Toronto's Jazz Studies Program. He is perhaps best known as the leader of the Nimmons 'N' Nine Plus Six jazz band.

David Braid is a jazz pianist.

They were the final act of the evening, which celebrated the induction of Mr. Nimmons and several others as new Champions for Music Education. This is the first of two spontaneous compositions they performed.
