Kandahar province is yet to see the second phase of Operation Moshtarak but before it takes a final shape, the governor has requested the central government in Kabul to increase the number of police and army men in the province to increase security for the citizens of the restive town of Kandahar. Talking to a news conference Kandahar Governor Toryalai Veesa said that he has requested the central government in Kabul to send more troops to the town before launching a military operation by NATO. Earlier NATO and US officials had indicated that they would launch a comprehensive military operation after the Operation Moshtarak in Helmand reaches its logical conclusion. The governor said that the number of police and military forces stationed in Kandahar is not enough and more security personnel are needed and talks with the center have been productive, more troops will soon be on their way to Kandahar."
