At the altar, Paulina tells Jake he can't marry her AND have Marley, so what will it be? It's now or never. Jake and Marley are looking at each other, and the entire church is at a standstill. In the congregation, Felicia tells Lucas she can't believe this has happened, and Jenna asks Matt what's wrong with Jake and gets only a shrug in reply. Back up at the altar, Amanda inclines her head at Sam, who whispers Jake's name and asks if he's okay. Jake is still looking at Marley. Jamie walks up the aisle to meet Marley, and they kiss and hug. Marley tells Jamie she wanted to be there for him, and they take their seats in the back row on the bride's side. Jake says that everybody's found their seat, looks at Paulina, and says, "Let's do it." Having lost her last shot at getting jilted, Paulina isn't smiling anymore. Of course, since Marley is sitting at the back of the church with Jamie's arm around her shoulders, Jake isn't a happy bridegroom either. He and Paulina stare at each other grimly as the minister begins their wedding ceremony. When the minister asks for objections and to "speak now or forever hold your peace," Ada shoots Iris a look and then a subtle elbow to the side, and Rachel follows that up with a look of her own, so Iris doesn't say a word. Jake and Paulina are married, managing small, if forced, smiles when saying "I will" in answer to the "will you take this person to be your lawfully wedded spouse" questions from the minister. They exchange rings, but hesitate when the minister tells Jake he may kiss the bride. Jake looks at Paulina, then looks out at the congregation, before he and Paulina, still holding each other's hands, share a quick, chaste kiss. The minister introduces Paulina and Jake as Mr. and Mrs. Jake McKinnon, the recessional music starts, and Hannah jumps to her feet like a jack-in-the-box and starts applauding. She looks around, puzzled as to why no one else is standing up to applaud. Rachel is the next one on her feet, and eventually everyone is standing and applauding. Jake asks Paulina, "Shall we, Mrs. McKinnon?"

"Six weeks, Jake," Paulina replies through a clenched-teeth smile.

Jake and Paulina stop for hugs, kisses, and handshakes on their way up the aisle. Michael refuses to shake Jake's hand, but Jamie does shake Jake's hand and congratulate Paulina. Marley even congratulates Paulina. Rachel tells Ada they'd better go out and greet the guests, and Ada replies that she's game if Rachel is. In the receiving line in the vestibule, Rachel and Ada are taken aback when Terry the loan shark kisses Paulina full on the lips and then hands her some money just for her, saying he's got something special for Jake. Terry pulls Jake into a hug and tells Jake he wants his money, or Jake will be spending his honeymoon in a hospital ward, if Jake is lucky. Jake tells Iris to give it a rest when she comes to greet them, adding that it's a celebration, not a wake. Iris replies that that depends which side of the family you're on. Rachel and Ada notice when Jamie and Marley, who are among the last to leave the church, share wordless looks with Jake and Paulina. Jake takes Paulina's left hand in his and lifts it to show off her wedding band, but she pulls her hand out of his. Thanks to Wendy for the scenes.

  • I don't get it, why are they forcing themselves to be married?
