Senator Shaheen spoke at a press conference to affirm her support for the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and urge the House of Representatives to pass the bipartisan, Senate-passed version of the bill. Shaheen said the House version of the bill strips critical provisions for victims of domestic abuse, specifically for victims on college campuses. The House bill also weakens protections for victims in same-sex relationships, immigrant victims and women on tribal lands.
