Oh Leonie Leonie Rysanek why why did you have to leave us??? This video of Elektra is one of my most prized possessions ever. Varnay is also so amazing in it. Everything about it is divine.

I love this DVD and have watched it so many times I could not count them. This scene and the final one contain some of the most delicious music ever and Leonie Rysanek is incredible. Richard Strauss was a genius and Bohm's arrangement is truly wonderful.

How in God's name did she keep her voice so delicious for SO LONG?! Such commitment and abandonement...I'm just discovering her..so there were more singing actresses other Callas huh? Absolutely wonderful:)
