Chocobo Racing on FFXI

This is a Chocobo Race on FFXI...

The item I used during the race was a Speed Apple.

Also note that my chocobo has higher physical stats than all the other ones.. and Ive done the same race 5 times with the same end result, with or without using an item.

I'm pretty sure its all random, and has nothing to do with your stats / items used.

Also, My chocobo is the black one on the inside, with the Mithra riding it.

You can race against one other player's chocobo but normal races consist of just NPCs.

When you enter into a race, is it against all NPCs or can you race against other players' chocobos?

I quite XI before I could ever get into the racing, I don't see how it works since the camera keeps changing and all... is it all automatic?
