90% of the time its random letters as a name.... such as fhtfjyf .
I suggest a (malware, spyware) removal program as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Its free, very easy.push scan, finds all the bad stuff on the computer.

Is it advisable to "verify" all of the red highlighted NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM processes? Would that tell you which, if any processes like svchost.exe, are dangerous?

Actually red does not mean dangerous. To see what the colors mean go to File \ Configure highlighting. You can also change the colors to your preferences if you want.
As far as checking out process, look at anything you think is suspicious.
How do you know what is what? Use File \ Save to capture the process in a text file, then do it again in 24hrs and compare the data. If you see anything odd...check it out.

Your best bet is to make sure sure you have the latest driver installed for the USB wireless adapter.
