First Pets - we all love 'em!

Held off giving pets to the children until they were old enough to doing the looking after. The house is Habitrail by Ovo - a modular design with many cardboard mazes and accessories available to keep the hamsters happy. We love 'Little Comets' they're our fave music for cleaning to, hope they don't mind the snippet of 'Adultery' on here! Cheers, Lesley

@GreatGig1 Caylyn I wish both the hamsters were friendly but the white one is so shy we can't catch and hold him like the other one. We hope he'll eventually get used to us but meanwhile Max shares his so we all get to hold Cino. Hannah absolutely adores them and Max still has his soft side so they're ideal first pets. Wow, what a great looking hampster environment. Can you buy additional modules and keep adding to it?

@Blinkazoid You can buy lots of things for it and yes as it's all modular you just keep adding. The only limit is how much space you have and of course money! The thing we really vary is the cardboard mazes, they don't cost too much and also come in lots of styles, tree house, dolls house, car etc. There are slots cut in the cardboard where you can wedge dry food for the hamsters to search for. Joe doesn't want a thumb up his....he said not to pass that on but it made me laugh. Thanks Van! The little hamsters will spin off their wheel forever after about 3 years sadly. They're brothers so I hope they go at a similar time, you can't add a new one in with an old one or they fight. cheers,Lesley
