"I.F.F." : Song Of Peace; Acoustic Opus NO. I. (c) 2005 Solitaire Records. JOHN McCRAE'S GEM OF A POEM, in original Song. - ALL THE WAY FOR JOHN McCRAE ! A true anti-war POEM. In the second Verse, JOHN SPEAKING for THE DEAD, are SHOUTING OUT , "TAKE UP! the Quarrel with THE FOE! "The Foe", is not your enemy army, or the German's of WW1,( only 94 year's ago). It is WAR it self, and you take up the quarrel with"THE FOE". Quarrel means to argue, discussion, NEGOTIATION. "THE DEAD", are SHOUTING OUT, DON"T DO WAR! Find a PEACEFUL SOLUTION. If you condence, and paraphrase the entire poem, "THE DEAD" are SHOUTING, "F#*$ THIS!!!!"
2 Million died In Flanders,(The Western Front) 9 Million In the whole World War. The Message from "THE DEAD" (JOHN McCRAE) IS PEACE, LOVE AND FLOWERS, 1915!
AND it's called a "POPPY", because it mysteriously pops up on Battle Fields through out history, McCrae knew this. - Where we get all our pain relief medicine. The poem itself has never been recited properly, always bland and boring without emotion, but poetry is pure expression involving emotion, and FLANDERS WITH ALL OF IT'S EMOTION BACK INTO IT COMES ALIVE! They all hated Flanders (The Western Front) So when you say "FLANDERS", say it like you hate the place, it smells of death, and manure, raining all the time. McCrae Wrote during, The Second Battle of Yepres (EEPS), which he called," 17 Days of Hades", Hell on Earth, and started expressing what he felt, after burying his 22 year old friend, and med-coleague, who was blown to bits, and in his blood soaked uniform, started writing what he was saying on behalf of the dead. Do you think he is happy? He's very upset, full of emotion, and his poem takes you through them all. He say's "Flanders" like he hates the place, "crosses" like hypocracy, ("Christians Fighting Christians). Then," Larks" are still alive, and we men are dead. Then softly say's "Lived, felt dawn, LOVED, were LOVED". Then the irony and discust, "and now we lie in FFlanders ffields. Then CRY'S OUT, "TAKE UP! OUR QUARREL WITH THE FOE. Then "The TORCH" (_LIGHT_to SEE)NOT a SWORD or GUN. Told to "HOLD IT HIGH" , or They Will not "SLEEP!!"(poppy seeds make you sleepy) WILL Rise from the dead and put a stop to WAR. Impossible yes ,but wishful sentiment, "Though poppies grow in FFLANDERS FFIELDS".-Peace&RockOn scott. - LIVE ON WHYTE ANENUE, October 11, 2010. Srathcona, Edmonton CANADA.
