You don't have to buy expensive equipment to start taking better pictures - let me show you how.

Portrait and Candid Photography Photo Workshop: Develop Your Digital Photography Talent (Photo Workshop)

LEARN TO CAPTURE PERSONALITIES WITH YOUR LENS

Taking great "people pictures" isn't a matter of luck. The secret is in observing your subjects and connecting with them, and then using your camera to its best advantage. Here's how to work with lighting, location, angle, composition, physical characteristics, environment, and a host of other variables, including the unique challenges of photographing babies, group activities, and action. Apply these techniques and watch your subjects come to life; then test your newfound skills by completing the assignments at the end of each chapter and collecting feedback on your work at pwsbooks.com.

  • good idea!

  • my car reflector has the flinstones cartoon on it, will it work?

  • heh - sure. Try it and see, if you don't like the reflection of Barney Rubble on your subject's face, you can just delete :-)

  • Well, thank you. I'll be 29 again in January ;->

  • @mlndsy03 just use cardboard from a old package or a box then u take silver foil (yea same as you use when you make dinner) rap it around the cardboard and YIHAA you have a almost free Reflector that works perfect!

  • how bout tin foil stapled neatly to a peace of cardboard

  • What a great tip!

    Thanks

  • Erin , this is great , but would you tell us where to get the reflector , ofcourse depends on where the light hits and which direction coming from but any tips ?

    thank you sooo much

  • That is really a great suggestion. I was walking by a car that had that reflection and it crossed my mind as "Ha, I wonder if that will work" and watching this video, I am now determined to get one. Thanks.

  • Great video! Well appreciated!

  • not very familiar with reflectors - how do you prop them up while you take photos? do u need someone to assist on that? and with that being said, how would you prop the car reflector? it's a great idea, and if i can find a way to prop it, i'm all over it!

  • I think there's a compliment in there somewhere... :p

  • If you dont have a car reflector, just use a trash can lid. Just make sure you put it back so the neighbors dont see your trash.
