@Fentanyl3 Some don't have the driver seat, so yes there are some that the driver's seat has been removed and the paraplegic driver just uses his/her chair to drive. There are special wheel locks that are placed in the floor of the vehicle to keep the chair stable and from moving all over the vehicle. Other people like myself don't have a van and instead have a car or a truck we drive.
@McSnooPyo8 There are things called hand controls that we use to operate the pedals of the car. Basically we use one hand on the control to push the gas or break pedal. The other hand is used to steer the car. ;)
@thibaulthalpern it's no more dangerous than having your child or dog in the car with you while you drive down the road. While the wheelchair looks like it's not secure in the van what you don't see are the grooves in the floor of the van that the wheels of the wheelchair lock into to keep it from rolling and "flying" around the cabin of the van. Besides, if you think that's dangerous then you would cringe at where I keep my wheelchair in my Pontiac Grand Prix GT..LOL
it amazes me there are still people out there that dont know these things yet, this is why i think disability issues need to be added to the school curriculum so kids grow up not seeing us as any different and just taking the huge amount of things 'diifferently able' people are capable of these days as a given, youtube things like fourcross and sitski, and 'wheelchair backflip', and disabled flying for examples, theres more things but i cant think of them at the moment,

I always wondered how you manage like that by yourself

there are a lot of devices. One option is the one I use. Similar to the EZ controls... but mine is better.
I improved the design ;-)
