in 2005 a young Great Britain under 16 national squad faced the Netherlands North Under 16s at the Brixton recreation centre in London in a game they were expected to lose, but this young British side had other ideas and were much better prepared than their opponents might have considered
Their unexpected victory not only entertained the home crowd but also prompted the Netherlands Korfball Association to increase their funding of regional junior squad training and begin to focus on talent development.
For British Korfball it was certainly a day to remember.
