Very few people within Enron ever took control of their investment and any attempt of diversification was seen as "stupid" from the colleagues. This kind of group pressure is sometimes to much. However, you are completely right. I'm 26, only have about 10k invested and I'm in 3 different companies in 3 completely different industries.
I've been reading up on the Enron situation for the past year or two and when you do that, you can't help but run into the name Charles Prestwood. While I respect what he's gone through, I honestly believe that he has to take at least SOME responsibility for what happened to him. Maybe not all, but at least some. By not diversifying (which is Investing 101), he lost everything.
