-The United States throws enough food a year to feed the whole world.

-The energy spent on military would be enough to provide global abundance

-Energy from solar, hydro and geo can power the world

    Wants are generated by society.

Needs: Food, shelter, clothing and education.

You are not a engineer or scientist, so unless you have the numbers, Shut up.

"the concept of demand exceeding supply"

    Where? In textbooks perhaps.

Supply permanently exceeds demand in the rich nations in the form of waste. Basic life-supporting needs (clean water, food, shelter) permanently exceed supply in poor nations. Are you one of those bigots who truly think that the poor of the world are lazy and don't deserve their needs to be met?

They work under appalling conditions for peanuts to extract e.g. coltan so that you can have your electronic gadgets.

Here are the five most disturbing reasons you should join the March Against Monsanto:

    1. Profiteering poisonous chemical company posing as agribusiness.

    2. Building a monopoly, putting farmers out of work.

    3. Controlling the food, privatizing the water.

    4. Running the FDA, writing its own protection laws.

    5. Continuing environmental nightmares

So I'm a loser who banters on here all day even though I've commented twice in the past 2 days while you've commented 10+ times!? LMAO psychologically projecting much? Also I love how you can't even defend your ridiculous statements about GMOs & TZM being totalitarian primitivism & instead resort to ad-hominens.

"convert you fools over to the truth" - your true intentions & zealotry permeate for all to see with this statement. You're not interested in rational discussion, only to propagandize.

What started as one mother’s call to action on a Facebook page has become a movement with more than 400 demonstrations scheduled in 50 countries and 250 cities around the globe. The events are organized online via an open Google Document, where people can find the protest nearest them. The March Against Monsanto Facebook page has received more than 105,000 “likes.” It has reached more than 10,000,000 people in the last week according to its website, which averages over 40,000 visitors per day.

Fed up with the fact that she has to spend “a small fortune” in order to feed her family things she says “aren’t poisonous,” Tami Canal of Utah has organized a global movement against the giant chemical and seed corporation Monsanto. Monsanto is the conglomerate mastermind behind many of the pesticides and genetically engineered seeds that pervade farm fields around the world.

Monsanto produces the world’s top-selling herbicide; 40 percent of US crops contain its genes; it spends millions lobbying the government each year; and several of its factories are now toxic Superfund sites.

I agree. I actually believe that such changes, as long as we don't destroy each other first, are an evolutionary certainty. Like many people, I believe that we are starting to approach the end of the industrial age. The problem is that, as with every single system before, those in control will fight tooth and nail to rescue it.

We are trying to evolve out of our animalistic tendencies to attack and eat those of our species that are weaker, but it's this system that perpetuates such behavior.

I'd be happy to speak with you privately. I'm here at work, so that area is blocked by my company's firewalls. If you post something there, I'll happily respond to you when I get home tomorrow. Have a great night.

While I agree with most of the views of TZM, I don't think its necessary to back individuals when they "berate" people for "ignorance". This is something that I am completely against, as it does NOTHING to progress the discussion. It just turns into a bunch of silly and childish back and forth nonsense in which each person tries to "one-up" the other person with a more clever insult.

This has NOTHING to do with progress but is only about the individuals egos.

The "Promise of the American Dream", right? Well, those days are long gone dear friend. Not sure what it's going to take for you to see that...

And this isn't about one particular nation, nor about forcing anyone. As people fall deeper into poverty, and automation increases, they learn more and more practical "lessons" about sustainability every day. It's only a matter of time before people start doing the same thing that they did in 1933 during the Great Depression: question the system.
