The average life of a Refugee camp is 7 years, with some exceeding beyond 50 years. There is a need for an alternative shelter to the typical tent solution that can transform a temporary living condition into a permanent home.
Pallet House by I-Beam Design, was conceived as a transitional shelter for returning Refugees.

  • Hey is it possible if you can send me the blueprint through normal postal mail of this project and can you write down how many pallets will be needed the reason I'm asking you for this is because I work in my uncles construction company and he wants me to start on a small project as a hands training thing for him to see if I need more training on my building skills and I saw your video and I was wondering if you could send me a copy of the blueprints and can you write down how much the new pall

  • @MVapor5 The plans should be available in Feburary.

    Thanks

  • Those were the best looking pallets I've ever seen. Usually they're warped, old, and falling apart.

  • Nice idea & nice video. I have just one concern, fire! This would go up like a tinderbox. I still like it though!

  • I built a storage building 8x10x8 its pretty sturdy. Had it moved and it held together

  • Looks cold

  • @ahz123 You can work on that. They are design experts.

  • @irukandji666 me too

  • white people are smart

  • i have enough wood in my yard to build that style pallet construction and was going to pre fab a recycled house, make cement disk footings from a mold, and transport it in a huge uhaul truck. and assemble the whole thing and pack it with straw and clay.. ......a question for you sir, anything you would of done differently? roof wise, foundation, walls, anything?

  • @glenn6666 did you ever think of stuffing the pallets with compressed hay bales and just cobbing over it to make it a permant finished dwelling. smooth walls and some thermal mass? i see you just ran vertical beams and nailed them going up into big pallet sections. very nifty idea, im building an earthship shortly and need a place to sleep inside of while im building it

  • A culvert can be brightened up with lace curtains and matching doilies.

  • Maybe instead of fixing the symptom (poor housing in refugee camps) our energies should be spent in solving the problem (the need for refugee camps), which is probably caused by authoritarian or racist sociopaths violently driving people off their land?
