TDR: An Innovation Story

As our population continues to grow, we must find creative new approaches to conserve land and protect our quality of life. In many instances, the economic benefit to develop land combined with unexpected life circumstances makes keeping a working farm or forest financially impractical. Landowners need options. Cascade Land Conservancy is spearheading some of the most innovative approaches to do just that. One tool that we are implementing across the region is called Transfer of Development Rights (TDR). TDR can save our farms and forests and provide opportunities for communities to protect the lands the impact their quality of life.
