@TheHeurist "What about the abiotic oil?" - What about it? This is a Red Herring fallacy. How oil created is not relevant. The questions is simple: Where is the oil? Unless you think the oil will be made in the next few years... Here are the facts: The peak discovery of total volume of oil was in 1964. The last time discoveries were larger than consumption was in the early 1980's. For almost thirty years we have consumed more oil than has been found.
We are burning the know reserves.

I am sorry to hear of his death.
There are factors
Peak oil is being used to place man at odds with himself. We are not the problem, we are the solution! Please don't let premature globalism co-opt mankind's relationship with itself! This is OUR home, we are NOT bad, we ARE welcome here.
What about the abiotic oil?
What about the alternatives to our dependence upon oil that have been squelched? There are many patents and solutions that have been forcibly removed from the public's knowledge.
Of course the process is continuous. All it takes is massive amounts of organic matter, massive amounts of heat, massive amounts of compression and a few hundred million years. I can wait that long, can you?
