Avia Eek, Holland Marsh
A lot of people when they drive along the 400 or whatever, yeah, along Highway 9 -- they don't really get a real taste of what it's like to be in the community of the Holland Marsh.
One of the great things about the Holland Marsh and the spirit of community that exists here is the fact that we don't have fences. For instance, you've got this field, this bed is in our neighbor's field; and you've got this bed, this is in our field. So if you were to look at this from the road, you would not ever imagine that there's two different owners for these properties. You would assume that it's all one continuous field.
So we don't have fences out here. We trust one another, we cooperate.
@ThePitalover To add to your point: The food you buy in the grocery store is often shipped from another country at a price that makes it nearly impossible for farmers here to compete. The people who come here to work get paid a lot more than the ones who are picking the fruits and veggies that you buy in the grocery store when this is the case.

@raptureboi have you tried to find farm workers in Ontario??? Locals aren't willing to work for what the farmers can afford to pay... So they hire migrant workers. People who are willing to leave their familes for the summer, to go work in another country for less than minimum wage. And spend their paychecks here, shipping things back to their homelands because they can't find these simple pleasures there.... I consider that something to be proud of... just sayin'

You even use cheap labour from other countries to harvest your crops....Not something to be proud of.

I just stopped at the farmer's market yesterday on my way through & picked up some carrots, lettuce & radishes. Yum!
