Compare Tascam IM2 + iPod Touch 4G for recording video outdoors. My previous videos focused on using it with music; here it is for talking & outdoor noise.
I found the IM2 quality of sound much better; background noises reduced. However I got hit with wind sound & further away it was often very soft. Up close it clearly beats iPod in my opinion for audio quality.
The in-built mic follows - this is much louder; more noise as well; and audio quality is not as good, many frequencies gone missing. But it handles wind a bit better; and the increased volume may be advantage.
Do you ever asked yourself why people using these strange looking mics (like a dead cat) outside. :)

@GrandTheftAutoVID100 it is also good for voice; but have to be speaking almost directly into it. i'll make an indoor video tonight...

@GrandTheftAutoVID100 the built in mic didn't seem to pick up wind as much. the tascam is much clearer when audio source is louder. if you'll be speaking directly into mic or recording something loud like concert Im2 is much better quality. (and you don't have wind)
