You are probably one of the most ignorant people I know. My aunt was beaten, humiliated and kept in the corner of her school in Canada because she could only speak Ukrainian and very little English. It was nearly impossible for many Ukrainians to find jobs in Canada. Ukrainians were a valuable asset to Canada because they knew how to homestead and break the land, but they were never treated with respect. The suffering was there, though you cannot see past skin color.

If this was Harper saying this about the Ukrainians then it would have been a whole different story.

Funny, most left-wing people I know are so concerned with culture and how important everybody's culture is, and make a big deal when someone insults someone elses "culture" (oh no!).

However, the left-wing leader makes some comments that were insulting to Ukrainians, and now hes not guilty. The other parties "misread" what he was saying.

No, the Minister there said because he is too old and not in a marriage recognized by Ukrainian law. Ukraine is the most gay friendly country out of the old Soviet Union. Once it is not longer a leftist issue gay rights will advance as they have in Poland and other east block countries. Ukraine is certainly no Jamaica.

I hear that Elton John tried to adopt an AIDS baby - a child that is HIV positive -- from the Ukraine. They won't allow him to adopt the baby, who is doomed to a shitty life in the orphanage -- because Elton is in a gay marriage. Bigoted?
