Paws for Purple Hearts program helps heal returning Combat Service members by teaching those with pschological scars (PTSD) to train service dogs for their comrades with physical disabilities. This dog (Huff) was distributing flyers at a symposium i was at today. He would peel one off the stack you see in the background and take it to a waiting on looker. Seems like a neat trick, but it is a blessing to the vetern who is missing limbs and can't pick up a book he dropped or turn off a light switch. These BFF's are their to make a difference. They are trained by emotionally scarred troops who still desire to help their friends who are physically wounded. Both benifit tremendously. The person doing the training learns coping skills again from someone who is non judgemental and more patient than a human. When training is complete, these service dogs go to men and woman who need an extra paw to get by. The training is supervised by professional trainers. Go to the paws for purple hearts to read more.
