The head-on collision that shut down Interstate 25 in Albuquerque Friday may have been by one driver's medical condition, police reported.
A northbound car crossed into the southbound lanes near Montgomery Boulevard and slammed into an oncoming SUV.
Officers said the 22-year-old driving the car had a history of seizures and probably had one behind the wheel.
He's at University of New Mexico Hospital with serious injuries. The other driver wasn't badly hurt.
The names of those involved were not immediately available.
I've driven by that area. No way he was heading north bound and jumped a barrier to the southbound traffic. there is a high cement wall that seperates the two! He'd have to fly to get over it. if he was driving southbound I don't see how he would have had a seizure. I understand that your body will tense up causing everything to lock up. If that was the case in this incident and the driver was going southbound. how did they end up facing traffic? This looks like a typical pit manuver.
