Transformer explosion

On "33, you can see the explosion of an electrical transformer near my apartment. Heavy winds were blowing, there was a short-circuit (you can see it before the explosion) and, boom!

after that happened, did the lights go out at your apartment?

yes they did. i think they went out in the neighborhood for some hours. if i remember well, i just went to bed (it was near midnight) and woke up when everything lit up around 4 AM or so

a car hit the power pole across the street and knocked down the pole :P

i dont think so. i did not hear a crash and it was close enough for me to hear it. i think the wind either moved some tree branches or the cables and that started the short circuit. but i could be wrong.

Yep that was what they were designed for, to power up fridges and then later explode... so you can open the fridge and drink the beer after then event.
