I think it's just that people see a really good film that's in a different language and feel the need to recreate it in their own language so that people in their country can enjoy what people in the other country enjoyed.

I am personally glad for one of the remakes, because I never would have thought to start watching Asian films or shows.

But it is sad that the remakes are generally not as good. Or that the original doesn't get as much credit as it deserves.

@samaz2u I guess it comes from both sides but then again i dont know of much plagorism coming from asians but a few examples well this one ..ummm a lot of dramas too....I saw a movie recently but cant remember the name srry ...Ah! the ring and the grudge of course are original from asia and a lot of scary movies in america are actually legends or myths in asia ...thats all i can remember right now...
