This is my approach to build this simple but really relyable, smoothly running engine.

It uses a pyrex testtube and a cut-down glas syringe (10ml) which makes it run nearly noiseless and eliminates the need for lubrication.
At the end of the video - where the engine runs - you will recognize that in fact the burner makes more noises than the engine itself.

The flywheel is made from brass and acryl glas ( to stick with the light and slim design). It rests on two ball bearings. The big end of the conrod also uses a miniature ball bearing (5x2x1.5mm).

  • Couldn't you put a cool cloth somewhere on the tube to speed it up?

  • @beac310

To put it simple, think of the steel wool as a delay line for the sound wave.

Google for "Thermoacoustic hot air engine" for further explaination.

  • @orangmakan Looks like real craftsmanship.. Not easily done..

  • Thanks for the link! Very good details.

Ich wusste, dass es sich irgendwann mal auszahlt, wenn man noch etwas deutsch spricht. Danke.
