Ladies thanks for Chiming in! I read ALL of your opinions/comments and enjoyed them very much. Well, I NEVER said that Long hair "Defines" your femininity but let's be REAL. Our OUTER appearance is the FIRST thing people see and throughout history long hair is more associated with the FEMALE.

And yes long hair doesn't look good on everyone but I don't see EVERY woman shaving off their head any time soon either. So even if they look "Unattractive" they are still keeping their Lengthy hair due to the FACT that Long hair has been considered one of the MOST Feminine traits on a woman.

I disagree with the "short hair not being feminine" statement. If you are saying short hair is not society's standard of femininity, then essentially you are saying we need to conform.

I hear you about Solange she did go really short. But I totally disagree with you I think the hair is Grace Jones fierce You keep saying to you and you don't like it and you don't think it looks good but then you say SOCIETY doesn't find it very feminine. To me your opinion is heavily based on society's view. I enjoy your videos and have learned much from you but it hurts a little to find you don't see how feminine it is to take that step

You are right, you see it on T.V. and everywhere. The American idea of beauty seems to be long hair and skinny bodies,too. How many ladies do you see in high positions with an Afro?? Or a cropped cut. No perm no job. braids are barely acceptable in some office positions. Just try to apply for work in a bank with a medium sized Afro and see what happens, Dang! Society has brain washed me so much so that I think I need to perm my hair or wear a wig to be accepted. My hair type is a 4a,.. dammit !

My preference is at least shoulder length hair because it easier for me to style. Everyone will not agree on this topic, but most women do look better with longer hair. Its my opinion and this is how I feel. But of course, most men will like you for yourself whether you wear your her long or short. A person's personality is what truly matters in life, not hairstyles.

I say grateful. As for this Shima chick, smdh, dude people can come at you or,anyine and say you need plastic surgery. Will you take it? No. Also, stop letting dominant culture ie euro culture dominate you. So I guess white men are feminine because when they grow their hair out it is long just like when both black womyn and men grow their hair out it grows out. Of course their are anomalies but that is the norm. I am saying this to say that we womyn, esp black womyn, need to stop letting others define our "femininity" whatever that means. To me, there is nothing attractive about wearing someone else's hair on your,head and passing it off as your own. Be fucking grateful for what you got.
