My horse is a very serious rusher to fences. On the cross country course, at this high level, it would be very dangerous to allow him to fly at the fences like he would like to. I dont pull against his head. I hold my hands still and he pulls against me and throws his head, despite the running martingale he wears to try and rush.

if you notice for example, at about 2:28 and 2:58 and 4:10 to name a few, he throws his head straight in the air on his approach to the fences and tries to lurch forward by leaping off his haunches to rush the fences. not exactly an easy ride.
