SecularTalk, mccain isn't actually in favor of civil unions, he's in favor of "legal contracts", which you can ALREADY get if you spend lots of time and money on lawyers, and even after all of that you are not guarunteed FULL legal benefits. Obama supports FULL legal benefits that a heterosexual marriage would offer...

Well Talk, it seems that you're giving credit to Obama for being smarter politically, and you may be right. But I can respect McCain for going into a hostile environment and standing up for his beliefs in a civilized manner, just as when he campaigned in Detroit and said things that auto workers didn't want to hear, stood against ethanol in Iowa, and admitted he had been against MLK day (and apologized) in front of the NAACP. I am neutral on this matter and I think Ellen made a good case.

Obama didn't co-sponsor prop-107 which refuses all legal/ contractual rights to gay people... Nor did he appear in the prop-107 commercial...Nor did he make the stupid mistake of vocalizing that he actually is pro gay marriage (being that 57% of the country is opposed)...And at least he's in favor of civil unions which is the most you can ask from a viable presidential candidate who's serious about getting elected in the US.
