One of my friends almost landing a good size barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda). Using a live shrimp as bait, my friend cast his line to the bottom (about 25 feet) and caught a small fish. as he was reeling this small fish to the surface a barracuda came out of nowhere and bit the fish in half. I quickly grabbed my camera to capture the 'cuda swin back to gulp the rest of his meal and hook. He was briefly on the line until he severed it with his teeth leaving my friend with nothing-hehe.
But trout are much more difficult to catch than the 'cuda's. We do not have anything near this size in the Midwest US either. maybe a muskie would come close. Plus fresh trout tastes better :-)

Well, at least your new "hook" would be a dandy conversation starter down at the pub ;-)
Those 'cuda's are like a nasty tempered fish with a doberman pinscher's mouth and teeth. Later, my drunk buddy almost fell in the water jumping from the other boat that was with us. Wish you could have been there with us!

Haha- we know the barracuda didn't !
Nah, after this outing we returned to the rented house and caught some fresh snappers from the channel and grilled 'em up. Couple of other friends grilled hamburgers too.
