This is an overture called Le Carnaval Romain by Hector Berlioz.. It was composed in 1843 and first performed at the Salle Herz, Paris on 3 February, 1844. It was an overture composed so it could be performed by itself. It used themes from Berlioz's opera Benvenuto Cellini, including some music from the opera's carnival scene (obviously, that's where the name came from!). It is meant for massive orchestras and there is an awesome solo for the cor anglais...Enjoy!

  • I managed to remove the unnecessary, artificial (and audible!) expansions in volume, so I hope I have the original sound :-)

  • Secondo me l'orchestra é diretta da Arturo Toscanini! Purtroppo ogni tanto qualcuno ha cambiato il volume. Provo a correggere :-)
