@MatrixOfDynamism maybe they did capture him alive and lied about it. that way they can do anything they want to him without anyone knowing. personally i'd be ok with torturing him in order to get information that could save lives.

we've seen numerous other senior al qaeda leaders being killed after Bin Laden, maybe its thanks to intelligence they got from Bin Laden

@CIarKent yes they could used Laden to get ALL informatio about the Taliban and wipe out this menace from the roots. They really had to shoot him when they were quite capable of having caught him and have a trial carried out on him.
