I agree; even if you got an inexpensive USB mic (to eliminate the annoying iMac squeaking) that would do more justice to your music.

@swingbossa thanks. I may pick your brain about technology. This is just the built in cam and mic in my imac, thru imovie, then gets compressed to make the file smaller. You're right, it's as if the sound was flayed alive and then tortured. Maybe I could keep the video part but record the audio in Garage Band?

@guitaress1 You can probably use the USB mic directly in iMovie (change that in the Sound preference pane) or record video in iMovie and audio in GarageBand for more tweaking options. I have done both, depending on whether I want to overdub or not. I also have started exporting movies at Full Quality from iMovie, even though it takes longer to upload due to larger file, but the result is better for YouTube.
