Glasgow Implosion of High Rise Council Buildings

I was going to put some music over this. However, I like the implosion and crashing sounds too much. Listen for the cheering at the end. I am not sure if they were glad to see the buildings go due to bad memories, or just really like demolition. Note: I did not take this footage as it came from the council.

What are "counsel buildings"? Are they those low-cost governmental housing projects that I see so much in Europe? (Like all the ones that look the same?) I always thought so many buildings that looked so similar next to each other weren't aesthetically appealing.

yeh, its Scotland's version of 'the projects'. They no longer build them this way, preferring to integrate counsel housing within communities and also the employment rates have really gone up over time and there are not as many people in that level of housing anymore.

Impressive! Those buildings did seem to be nicely situated near the hillside though. Even so, probably good that they're gone!
