So THAT is a Dutch Roll ... ugh, it makes me sick just watching it (>.<

Thanks God, the dutch rolls are almost not present on modern aircrafts dynamics....
They are very dangerous, they were one of the main reason causing the Boeing 707 to be replaced. Boing had to install systems to reduce the roll caused by the wings design, but it started to become expensive for its production. Actually a 707 crashed after 2 of the engines detached from the wings after a sever dutch roll incident.

@jyp2628 university of applied sciences munich :-)

@roshy4u or is that dynamic instability?

Wow, this is really interesting to see. Just studying flight mechanics now and the only dutch roll things ive ever seen are simulated models, but its great to see the maths at work here n see damping and actually how far the wing moves in this case, the entire range of motion. Im from University of Sydney and we got 3 training flights as well but none had a dutch roll in them unfortunately. Thanks for posting tho!

@fbtsb get a life!

Dutch roll is not a full rotation, get informed!
-
this is call dynamic stability phenomena

2 Rolls ???
Haven't seen one !
I don't know why you think that. In my opinion the Aerospace Engineering Faculty of Delft University of Technology is not bad at all. How many universities give there students the opportunity to have three flight practicals?

I don't see the connection with this video dude. Please don't comment if you have nothing to say.
