My very first hawk watch at Putney Mountain, near Newfane, Vermont.
I wasn't sure what to expect and with wildlife you never know if they'll cooperate, but what an unbelievable experience it was. Every now and then you just get lucky.
And the experienced bird watchers were absolutely great in sharing their knowledge with several newbies (including myself) that were there.
In one hour we counted over 600 Broad-winged hawks and the day ended with more than a 1000 being counted.
