The mountain pine beetle's infestation in western Canada is turning forests into a new source of greenhouse gases, according to new research published in the journal Nature.

when you look at satellite imaging it is clear that clear cutting causes this, it's like the scabbing of the forest. or leveling out of the forest (any one that grows plants knows that when you have short plants next to larger plants it causes the larger plants to grow shitty). clear cutting should be banned for selective logging. are forests are basically doomed.

The beetle infestation is due to all the logging and transporting of those logs through BC, beetles can fly off logging trucks carrying infested wood. Some say that's not true but they don't know Jack. It is causing the problem. Back in Sask we don't transport wood because of dutch elm disease. If BC didn't rape their forests so bad all for profit there wouldn't be such a problem.
