HIV and Reproductive Issues

Village Fertility Pharmacy periodically invites experts to 'Tour and Talk' with reproductive endocrinologist nurses at various clincs and institutes. In March 2009, we invited Linda O'Reilly to talk on 'HIV and Reproductive Issues' for the nurses at the BIVF and the Chicago Association of Reproductive Endocrinologists (CARE).

There are people who are living with HIV and are seeking fertility treatment - hopefully this talk will help us in understanding where HIV is now.




Linda OReilly is a board certified Adult and Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Linda comes to us from UMASS Memorial Health Care, Division of Infectious Diseases, HIV Clinic. She has been working there since 1993 providing primary and consultative care to adults living with HIV.




In 2000 she was asked to develop and is the Coordinator of the Non-Occupational Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Program at UMASS. This program provides interventions and follow-up to those who may have sustained an exposure to HIV (and other things) but are not able to be followed by UMASS Health Services. Those that she sees there are emergency personnel such as paramedics and police officers, contract personnel and she also sees the adult sexual assault survivors- as she provides the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners with invaluable resources, training and comfort that the SA patients will be seen and follow by her during their post exposure prophylaxis period. She is currently adjunct faculty at UMASS Graduate School of Nursing, and has also previously taught at Becker College Nursing Program.
