http://www.catalinbread.com and http://www.reverendguitars.com and http://www.fuzzboxgirl.com (At the 6:14 minute mark is one of my favorite settings) The beauty lies in the oddness of this pedal. I recently heard that Catalinbread is thinking of phasing this pedal out, but I just don't think it ever got the love it deserves. There are a TON of odd little noises this thing can make, you really just have to play around with it. It's part bit crusher, part Harmonizer, part Octave, and part Ring Mod.... all with a little fuzz thrown in there. You can dial in the fuzz with the gain knob.... but don't expect this to have your run of the mill fuzz tones. If you really are looking for something to set your tone apart from others, this may be one to add to your arsenal..... especially if you are an ambient noise kind of guitarist or if you happen to score sci-fi movies in your spare time :) And yes, the song in the beginning is from on of my favorite sci-fi movies, Sunshine, by Danny Boyle.... well, maybe the first two thirds, the latter portion of the movie kind of jumped the shark. Anywho, if you enjoy this pedal, you may want to grab one while they are still available.

Gear Used:

Reverend Guitars Warhawk HB II

Vox AC30 combo with blue celestion speakers

Shure SM57

Fuzzbox Cocktail- Bay Rise (check out my website for the recipe)

  • It was just me that thought this pedal is a shit?

  • @caiohleal It's an odd one, yes.... people either love it or hate it :)

  • Can I use this on an omnichord?

  • @Desmaad Ooohhh... they may not play together very well.... I mean, you can dial the Heliotrope in to use with the Omnichord on certain settings, but I think that overall, you will be limited with how you can use the two together.... it may muddle the Omnichord too much.... so, if you are only going to use it for that, it may not be your best bet.... just being honest :)

  • Plug it into my keyboard and I dont have to buy lofi synths.

  • I built my own! On veroboard. I love it, my girlfriend loves it. You either have a need for robot noises, or you don't. Granted it'd be hard to come up with a good tune with this pedal, but for self amusement jam sessions, it's fun as hell!

  • @FuzzBoxGirl It's sort of like my Geiger Counter, another odd pedal :P The Geiger is more expensive, but offers way more than this one. The Heliotrope may have too much competition to deal with.

  • Boy, not a lot of ILFers on this video. No love for nasty fuzz! One of my go to pedals, and I have a one of a kind lead tone because of it.

  • OMG this SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Reminds me of when Incubus were on heavy shrooms! eww

  • @jeezuschryst Count me among the close-minded, jeezuschryst.

  • where have you been all our lives?! you demo the coolest pedals! this thing is crazy. love it.
