Why is it that Republicans always want to take away our rights?

Well, I guess we need to do away with Amendment 12, 20, 22 and 23 and just let the House elect the President. Taking away ones right to vote is very unAmerican.

You are however correct. The Republicans do want to take away our rights as do the Democrats, but not in this case.

States rights are your rights. When all the power is centralized in the federal government, then you loose your rights. The less concentrated the power, the more rights you will get to keep. There was a reason for the state governments picking the senators and that was to keep the federal government from usurping power from the states. The founders were very intelligent men and the Constitution, including the division of and the balance of power, was an incredible documents.
