The Westfield iRACER electric race car hits the road! Running currently at only 30% power, the vehicle is shown doing some of its first trial runs. Obviously bodywork to follow, but the vehicle shown is complete minus 50% of the battery pack (hence the large gap in front of the driver). Currently running at 300V, the final vehicle will run at up to 600V. The iRACER is the result of a collaborative programme with Potenza Technology, RDM Automotive, and Delta Motorsport, funded by Advantage West Midlands through the Niche Vehicle Network. It uses 2 40kW YASA motors to independently drive the rear wheels, and proprietary battery packs developed using Lithium Iron Phosphate battery technology. Final performance is expected to be sub 5 seconds 0-60mph, and a top speed electronically limited to 110 mph.
