The Sondheim orchestrations are by the brilliant Jonathan Tunick. Unfortunately, I don't know who did the pop stuff. More deconstructions at my website www. SethRudetsky.com

  • u soooooo need to deconstruct barbra harris in the apple tree!

  • "Getting Married Today" is literally my favorite orchestration ever. I rewind the end obsessively. The violins, into the horns, and the DRUMS at the end! It's so phenomenal. Tunick is quite simply a genius.

  • I love when you go "Anybody? Nobody? okay" haha You are soo cute. Lets get married.

  • Don't know about the Jackson 5 song, but Tears of a Clown's music track was written and produced by Hank Cosby and Stevie Wonder (only 17 at the time!).

  • I am obsessed with your bassoon impression. :)

  • I listened to "I Wanna Be Where You Are" I don't know how many times and never even looked at the way you did/do until now. Thanks Seth, you rock.

P.S. Now whenever I listen to it I'm obsessed with the violins!

  • I was really fortunate to work for Mr Tunick June of last year in Chichester, UK. He reorchestrated Oklahoma and I was a runner/assistant. I liased with his copyist in the US. An amazingly quiet man. I love these deconstructions.

  • OMG I'm doing Side By Side BY Sondheim right now and get to play both of those passages in my piano part!!! LOVE IT!!!

  • HA! I can't believe I never heard Crazy Bassoon in Tears of a Clown.

    And now I can't un-hear it.

  • Seth, i love you but when Mike is singing it's hard to focus on anything else!

  • It's actually pronounced "harp see chord"
