  • Can't get the tailgate to open....It seems as if the linkage inside has come loose or something.. The power door lock actuator is working but the latch itself is not... 2000 Mercury Mountaineer.

    Any help would be appreciated

  • @scott93257 You may have to remove the tailgate door panel with the tailgate closed to be able to access the rod inside of the tailgate. Once you take the door panel off you should be able to pull the rod that opens the tailgate so that you can fix the issue.

  • and for 97 blazer thanks friend

  • @19743412 At the current time we do not have an auto repair video that shows this repair on this particular vehicle. We'll keep this in mind when doing future repairs on this vehicle.

  • Mike - I need to replace the tailgate actuator on my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Is the process substantially different than the one posted here? Any tips? Thanks

  • @TheLtgb The basics on what you need to do should be similar, such as you would need to remove the door panel, unbolt the actuator from inside of the tailgate and disconnect it from the locking mechanism.

  • How do you get the tailgate open when the latch doesn't work with the manuel or actuator ?

  • @mibambino2007 Yes, same on a 2000 expedition.

  • Is it the same process for a 2000 ford expedition?
