I wrote and recorded this around the time of the Tampa incident. Since the High Court ruling it seems there's an opportunity for debate - as you can tell I favour on shore processing of asylum seekers. Seems to me that the world is changing, (as it does!), and one way or another we'll eventually have to share our space and resources with many. We may as well choose to do it humanely and compassionately, as well as responsibly and legally. In my opinion it's better to face the problem than to create more temporary workarounds.

  • Yes, keep treating the symptoms. The problem will just breed itself larger and they will still keep coming. So far, being poor seems to be an acceptable reason for claiming refugee status.

  • @nigeltube999 It's that sort of thinking that these people are trying to escape - as the song says "I guess the air here is not as free as what you were thinking....."
