Before the light of evening fades,
we pray O Lord of all;
That by your love we may be saved,
from every grievous fall.

Repel the terrors of the night,
and Satan's power of guile.
Impose a calm and restful sleep,
that nothing may defile.

Most Holy Father grant our prayer,
through Christ your only Son;
that in your Spirit we may live,
and praise you, ever One. Amen.

A light to reveal you to the nations, and the glory of your people, Israel.

Visit, we beseech you O Lord, this house and family,

Let your holy angels dwell here that you may keep us in peace,
and let your blessing be always upon us.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit; one God for ever and ever. Amen.

Let us bless the Lord - thanks be to God.

May the Almighty and Merciful God; ┼ the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit, bless and preserve you.
And our absent brethren. Amen.

Thank you for posting this. I have gone to an Episcopal convent for a retreat for the past two summers, and Compline was my favorite office of the day. So peaceful and calming, a great way to end the day!

My favourite Office of the day when I was on retreat there. It's a wonderful experience to share in the prayer and praise at Ampleforth. Don't miss going there if you ever have an opportunity. Blessings to all the monks as they continue the Benedictine traditions at this Abbey.

No need to be a believer to appreciate these chants. After one listens to this no one can doubt that there is something of Divine Nature in these chants....

The beauty of this liturgy goes beyond creed or denomination. This whole video and the work of our brother who posted it are an act of God > I remember the good old years I spent at St. John's Seminary in Camarillo California.
