Here is Chloe at four weeks and six days old. (The day after the diagnosis of Cerebellar Hypoplasia) Apologies for the low quality of the video.
I am fostering baby Chloe and her family (five babies and Mama Lily) for Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue. Their website: http://www.orphankittenrescue.com/
Cerebellar Hypoplasia is a disability wherein the cerebellum, which is responsible for movement and co-ordination, does not develop correctly. Cats and kittens afflicted with this disorder have difficulty getting around, but are otherwise normal. They have a normal life expectancy, and are not in any pain. Chloe is mischievous, sweet, playful and cuddly - just like her littermates!
I've taken this video of her so that we can watch her walking skills progress. Although cerebellar hypoplasia has no cure, little Chloe will learn to adapt to her unco-operative little body with the help of physiotherapy exercises and practice, practice, practice!
Oh, bless you and little Chloe!! I recently adopted a CH kitten as well; he's just about 4 1/2 months old now, and he at just about the same mobility level as Chloe is now...he's gotten much better; doesn't fall into his food or water bowl anymore (altho he does fall into his own litterbox mess!) but he eats, drinks and uses the litterbox with no problems...he can probably take 3-4 steps without falling over at this point, and I think it will continue to improve..you go,Chloe!!
