The long-awaited New Central Library, designed for LEED Silver certification, is a nine-story archive of flexible space
replete with public amenities. Topping the structure is a great, airy, reading room shaded by a latticework dome.
Bay view terraces, roof gardens, an auditorium, a café, and a regional art gallery also invite the public in.

  • is that a big library?

  • Been looking forward for the new central library to be finished. Architecturally and structurally designed by the world-renowned architect Rob Wellington Quigley. This will surely be an amazing landmark in San Deigo.

  • The construction begins on July 2010 and scheduled to be completed by July 2013

  • simply stunning! I can not wait for it to be built!

  • when is this going to be completed? do you know?

  • This is a nice summary of a great project to come for downtown San Diego. Thanks for uploading this! -Pete
