What an odd mix of feminism/sexism. Never noticed that when I was watching this in the past.

Still remember how great this commercial made me feel and the perfume had nothing to do with it! You Go Girl!

Got this stuck in my head today. ROFLMAO. Had to go find it. I actually wore this perfume back in the late 70's early 80's. Charles of the Ritz. Who the heck was that?

Peggy Lee's original lyrics:
I can wash out 44 pairs of socks and have 'em hangin' out on the line.
I can starch and iron 2 dozens shirts before you can count from 1 to 9.
I can scoop up a great big dipper, full of lard from the drippins can;
Throw it in the skillet, go out and do my shopping, be back before it melts in the pan.

Good point Matolen. Good for you. I have no idea why every comments section of youtube must degenerate into political battles. I'm here to watch a commercial from when I was in grade school.

You go David J!! Good for you!! I'll bet your wife appreciates it very much. Yes the song was by Peggy Lee in the 50's.

You miss the point. It's "The 8-hour perfume" so it stays with the do-it-all woman through all her roles of the day. By marketing to that woman, the commercial implicitly celebrates her. The tune, best remembered by people our age from the commercial, actually was from a hit song several years earlier. As a do-it-all guy, I sometimes sing the second half of this ad (swapping genders) while cooking for my wife & daughter.
