  • what type of loco is #40

kind of looks like a D&RGW K series

  • It is an outside frame 2-8-0. I think it was brought up from Guatemala with others of the same size and wheel arrangement back in the 70's when they where for sale. It is now at the Colorado RR museum, along with Shays 12 & 14.

  • @jfreelan1964 Do they still run it?

  • @nkproad777 I don't know. I just know it is at the Colorado Railway Museum. Narrow Gauge Discussion on the web is where you can get current info on all things narrow gauge here in the U.S. It is centrically Colorado narrow gauge.

  • AWESOME CATCH SWEET

  • @nkproad777 No, rhey dont. i believe it has been out of service since 2005 or 2006.

  • #40 was built in 1920 by Baldwin for the IRdeCA in Honduras. She is an inside frame 2-8-0 much smaller than the K27-26 class but can she ever pull. I should know, that's me running her in 2004. She usually ran much cleaner than that but we had a crap load of fuel and you had to run almost wide open on the firing valve to make steam under load.

  • Even with poor sound quality it sounds glorious

  • When was this video taken? Looks to be either 2003 or 2004. Very cool video - thanks for posting it!
