@724Christian --- I was wondering if all Starbases rated drydocks. But, seeing as how the Enterprise specifically went to Starbase 11 for repairs, I suppose it must be presumed that facilities were somehow available (unless Starbase 11 was simply the closest, and it was Hobson's Choice).

The thing I like most about these re-mastering jobs are the different views of the Enterprise. It's nice to see that the opportunities were taken to provide new perspective shots.

Would have been nice to have seen The Intrepid and Enterprise in drydocks orbiting instead of under their own power

At 0:25 the ships insignia and NCC-1701 are cracked and pitted, its little touches like this that made the remastering project a success.

Imagine all those people who bought the seasons or series box sets on DVD, and now there's all remastered versions....

Well, they changed the space shots if you compare it with the original - as well as making confusing establishing shots.

@SteveDurnin Actually, I beg to differ, too. After reading an article on the group working on these new FX, I now know they wanted to do the exact opposite of spicing things up. If anything they were dedicated to keeping these remastered episodes as close to the originals as possible. More time and effort was spent restoring the original film than on the FX. Some people feel there are too many FX others want more. I think they got it just right.

I beg to differ.
Not only is it clearly CGI, but it makes the narrative misleading.
After it shows "Court Martial", the zoom to the window at the rear of the ship followed by a dissolve gives the impression that the scene in the bar is taking place on the Enterprise.
There isn't much space action in this episode so I guess the fx guys wanted to spice things up - too much it seems.
The scenes on the planet are nice, though.
One thing that is interesting in this remaster is the closeup of the damage in the pod area in the rear of the ship, that was caused by the ion storm. Since Finney was in the pod when he presumably died and Kirk was charged with essentially negligent homicide in his death, this shot adds to the story in a nice, subtle way.
And yes, the planet shots and the people walking around in the starbase were well done.
One of the best remastering previews I have seen here so far.

Nice bit of work showing the starbase as a much more active facility.
