@Curveball last week a big newspaper here wrote that it turned out, the whole organizational concept of the Love Parade 2010 was illegal. the Love Parade 2010 was part of RUHR 2010, a cultural program in the Western German Ruhr area last year... the tiny town of Duisburg wanted to profile itself with this big, famous festival, although they didn't have an adequate area for it. money pressure led to this highly disputable concept of putting thousands of people through one small tunnel.

@Curveball this is still subject of investigation, currently there are investigations against 16 persons (some of them part of the security, police etc.). I personally believe there was no specific reason for the panic, just too much people in such a small tunnel. they were pushed and pressured, and when it became too much & some of them couldn't breathe anymore they got paniced which led too even more pressure etc. only a chain reaction
